BE80(T) classes are specifically aimed at
introducing people to the sport
and encouraging inexperienced horses and riders,
building confidence in all areas.
Carlton Horse Trials has held the very popular
BE80(T) class from 2009.

BE80(T) competitors will benefit from the advice of BE Accredited Trainers who will be on
hand at the event to advise in the collecting ring, and on the preparatory course walks.
Nick Turner, both popular and extremely experienced will be the Trainer at Carlton
Horse Trials and will also hold a course walk on the morning of the competition
specifically for the BE80 competitors. Further preparation beforehand will be available
through the cross country clinics held at Carlton so that competitors can enter the
Horse Trials with confidence.

The BE80(T) track is designed by Philip Herbert and includes some
twenty fences, gallops and water.

Dressage
The test varies each year but is a straightforward test of approx 4 and a half minutes in a 20m x 40m arena to show the three paces on both reins including 20m circles.
Show Jumping
The show jumping course will be encouraging and flowing with
between 7 and 10 numbered obstacles including one double combination and at
least three spreads. Only two fences will be at maximum height.

Speed - 325mpm
Cross Country
The course will again be designed to be encouraging and
will include water (run in and out)
and straightforward combinations. All fences
will be to BE specifications.

Max Height - 0.80m
Max Top Spread - 0.90m
Max Base Spread - 1.25m
Max Spread (no height i.e. ditch) - 1.00m

The classes are open to everyone and British Eventing is once again offering "£10 Special Day Tickets" as an introductory offer to new horse and rider combinations to cover one competition.
- Apply on-line with BE for a free lifetime registration number for you and your horse. This can be done by clicking "BE Interactive" on the home page of the website.

- Decide which event you would like to enter. The event schedule can be found on this website or the BE website, or alternatively in "British Eventing Magazine" which can be purchased from the BE office priced £3.
- You'll need to buy a special BE80(T) day ticket, charged at the special rate of £10 per combination. Day tickets can only be purchased when making an entry. If you are entering online then the day ticket fee will
be collected along with the entry fee. If you are using a paper entry form, two cheques
must be submitted: one payable to Carlton Cross Country for the entry fee, the other to
British Eventing Ltd for the day ticket fee. Both cheques must be included with your entry form
and sent to the entries secretary.
- You must have your entry to the Entries Secretary between the "Entries Open" date and the "Ballot Date". The cost of entry is approx £60 at each event.
- Your entry is then processed. All entries are given numbers and put into sections. You'll receive back a confirmation of entry.
