The Scotts Rider Development Program

Have you got what it takes to train with an Olympic team?
How much could you and your horse progress with the right training?

Scotts of Thrapston, in partnership with Carlton Horse Trials, is offering TWO lucky riders an exclusive place on their Rider Development Programme which, in this special 2012 year, will see the chosen two through extensive training and even have the chance to train with the Brazilian Olympic Eventing team.

Scotts of Thrapston has supported local amateur event riders continuously, and is delighted to be running the programme in partnership with Carlton for a third year. You may well have followed Henry Beasley, Janet Hammond, Sarah Orr and Alex Elliott over the past two years. They have been part of the RDP and have benefited from the extensive training and support given in the months leading up to competing at their first affiliated event, Carlton Horse Trials.

What does the programme involve?

The aim of the programme is to encourage grass-roots level riders to improve their standards and skills safely. From March 2012, the chosen two riders will work towards competing in their first affiliated event by:
  • Spending three days training with the Brazilian Olympic Eventing team members, and their coach, BE accredited Nick Turner
  • Attending a private half-price clinic at Carlton Cross Country Course with Nick Turner
  • Writing an informal fortnightly diary reporting on the thrills and triumphs of being part of the scheme
  • Receive branded clothing and free entry to Carlton Horse Trials
  • The programme finale in July 2012 will see the two riders compete in their first affiliated class at Carlton
