Carlton Horse Trials 31st July & 1st August 2010 - 9am-5pm
Spectators are always welcome at events at Carlton.
Viewing
The BE Carlton Horse Trials is perhaps the most interesting of our events to come
and watch as the competition involves dressage, show jumping and cross country. The dressage and show jumping are all held close to the house and parking area. The cross country can be viewed from the superb vantage point of the top of the hill in the Meadow ground where a riders progress can be easily followed.
Trade Stands
There are a number of trade stands for a little retail therapy, including luggage,
furniture, clothing, jewellery, china and more
(trade stands page).
Refreshments
Refreshments will be available all day - baguettes and freshly filled rolls, hot and cold drinks, delicious bacon butties and snacks from Smithy's and Happy Herefords aswell as strawberrys and cream from the Waitrose stand. Something for everyone
Demonstrations
Patchwork Training will be demonstrating dog obedience and agility at 1pm and 3pm on both days. You can also bring your own dog and have a go at any time through the day (10-4pm). Grafham Water Center will be here with their mobile
climbing wall which is available for all age groups. Temple Smith Associates will be offering free face painting to the children so why not let Dot turn them into a tiger for the day (10-4pm)!
Walking the Courses with Nick Turner
If you are interested in understanding how the cross country course should be approached as a competitor, you can join Nick Turner for a course walk on Friday 30th July. Nick is a leading event rider and BE Accredited Coach and Trainer, experienced at tackling the Burghley and Badminton courses, he has plenty of useful tips on lines, distances and approaches. This course walk is suitable for anyone. The cost is £10. Booking is essential and can only be made online. Proceeds will go to the RDA. Click here to book online
